LOS ANGELES, Calif. (December 5, 2022) - Esports organization and North American League Championship Series (LCS) franchisee, FlyQuest, today announced that Brian Anderson, former co-CEO of Beastcoast Gaming, has been named Chief Executive Officer of FlyQuest.

 As CEO, Anderson will work closely with FlyQuest’s newly appointed President and Chief Gaming Officer Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith to grow the organization from both a competitive and commercial standpoint, while continuing to uphold FlyQuest's mission-driven culture.

 Anderson joined Beastcoast in 2019, where he most recently served as co-CEO, building teams in several top esports titles, including the most successful active team in the Dota 2 South American competitive community. He helped grow Beastcoast’s presence in Rainbow Six Siege, as well as the wider fighting game community, and supported the organization’s diverse roster of players, streamers, and content creators.

“Brian’s experience building an esports organization will be beneficial in growing and developing FlyQuest's business and competitive operations. His passion for the space, and deep understanding of the community, will have an immediate impact on the franchise and will resonate with our staff, players, and fans alike. The announcement comes as former FlyQuest CEO Michael Choi departs the organization to pursue a new opportunity. 

“Michael’s contributions to FlyQuest over the last four years have made a tremendous impact on the organization and leave the company with a solid foundation for future growth. We wish him continued success in his next chapter,” said Viola.

FlyQuest Announces Brian Anderson as CEO

Today, we are excited to announce that Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith will be appointed President and Chief Gaming Officer.

PapaSmithy is a veteran of the esports industry, beginning his career as a broadcast commentator for OGN and Riot Games, casting the League of Legends World Championship in 2017, 2018, and 2019. He most recently served as General Manager for 100 Thieves’ LCS team, leading them to three LCS Championship Finals and winning the 2021 Summer Split title. During PapaSmithy’s tenure with the organization, 100 Thieves appeared in two League of Legends World Championships.

“Chris’ reputation and track record in the gaming, esports, and League of Legends communities speaks for itself. We are excited for him to join FlyQuest, and to help lead the organization into its next chapter,” said Michael Viola, FlyQuest owner. “Chris will play a key role in team and player development, as well as engaging with FlyQuest fans and the LCS community in new and unique ways.”

The Viola family are the owners of Sunrise Sports &amp; Entertainment, parent company of the
National Hockey League’s Florida Panthers.


FlyQuest will continue to grow as an organization focused on advocacy, sustainability, and giving
back to the community. Under its new ownership, FlyQuest is prepared to continue the brand’s
legacy of “Showcasing Greatness” with exciting activations, partnerships, and continued
expansion in esports.

FlyQuest announces new ownership

We are announcing today that current Chief Operating Officer Michael "DotAGenius" Choi has been appointed as the CEO following the departure of Tricia "megumixbear" Sugita.

After roles with AZUBU, the Professional Esports Association, and Snap Inc., Choi first joined FlyQuest as a Senior Project Manager and Director of Operations before being named COO in April 2020. Since 2020, Michael has led and supported the marketing, product, operations, finance, and legal efforts for FlyQuest, applying his decade of experience as both a captain and coach in the competitive esports sector. 

“Tricia’s leadership and vision over the last few years grew FlyQuest to where we are today, and as the new CEO, these are very big shoes to fill. I have a strong grasp on where we need to go from here, and our team and players remain committed to the greater FlyQuest cause of Showcasing Greatness,” said Choi.

As CEO, Choi will lead both the expansion and success of the competitive League of Legends FlyQuest team, as well as the professional Super Smash Melee players that compete under the FlyQuest banner. FlyQuest announces New CEO

We are excited to share our new announcement for the **2022 LCS Spring Split Playoffs**!

So many people doubted the forces of good and rated us as a 9th or 10th place team. I think it’s safe to say that we proved the doubters wrong - we are now getting ready to make our Playoffs run and earn our first LCS title!

Along the way, we also had another successful charitable campaign, this time partnering with **Mastercard** for the **TreeQuest x Priceless Planet Coalition** initiative. Through this initiative, we have managed to already plant over **4,000** trees just this split - but we aren’t done yet!

For the Playoffs, we will be **DOUBLING** the number of trees planted. That means **2 trees** planted for each takedown, **20 trees** planted for each Ocean Drake taken by **ANY** team, and **200 trees** for every **\#FLYWIN**!

And as a bonus to our Academy team who went far in their own tournament - we will be retroactively **DOUBLING** all the trees that they planted during Proving Grounds! We are so proud of you!

TreeQuest Playoffs Edition

Today we are excited to share that the OG “Go Green” Initiative: **TreeQuest** is returning for Spring Split and will be better than ever as we join forces with Mastercard to launch the **TreeQuest x Priceless Planet Coalition**!

Initially unveiled for Spring Split 2020, TreeQuest was the first initiative we launched in our efforts to effect real change for our planet. Through TreeQuest donations, our efforts led to the planting over 12,000 trees, demonstrating the power of the esports community to showcase greatness.

This passion for making a positive impact on our planet is one that the Priceless Planet Coalition deeply understands, and why we’re thrilled to be bringing our efforts together. Created by Mastercard, the Priceless Planet Coalition aims to restore 100 million trees over five years, regrowing forests in geographies that represent the greatest global need and potential for climate impact – together with its restoration partners, Conservation International and the World Resources Institute.

Through the **TreeQuest x Priceless Planet Coalition** campaign, FlyQuest and Mastercard will make a donation to plant one tree ($2 each) for each in-game takedown by a FlyQuest player, 10 trees for each Ocean Drake taken by any LCS or Academy team, and 100 trees for every #FLYWIN during the 2022 LCS and Academy Spring Splits. All donations will go to Conservation International in support of the Priceless Planet Coalition’s mission to restore 100 million trees.
Thanks to our LCS and Academy teams in their first few weeks of play, we are already at a total number of **1,280** trees planted! Our hope is to beat our previous record and make an even bigger impact on our planet!

Legends teams. As a proud partner, Mastercard will be showcased on all FlyQuest League of
Legends jerseys throughout the 2022 LCS Season.

From becoming the first-ever global sponsor of League of Legends in 2018 to bringing fans the

Today, FlyQuest welcomes John “KoDoRiN” Ko to the #FlyFam as the latest addition to our team! 

KoDoRiN is one of the top Marth players in the Super Smash Brothers Melee competitive scene. While he’s been playing Melee for a while, he only truly erupted on the competitive scene during the pandemic, and recently came away with an impressive 3rd-place finish at last month’s Mainstage 2021. The 22-year-old rising star will join us as we strive to showcase greatness together on a new stage and arena.

KoDoRiN will represent the FlyQuest brand competing at one of the most hype Melee events of the year, Smash Summit 12, from December 9-12, 2021. 

KoDoRiN exudes FlyQuest’s ethos of thoughtfulness and generosity as he loves to share his knowledge through coaching sessions and educational content.  We’re excited to partner with KoDoRiN as he aspires to be one of the best Smash Melee players in the world.

Since launching our Go Green Initiative in 2020, we have made an impact by planting trees and raising money for vital causes such as the protection of our oceans, the preservation of bees, and accelerating the shift to renewable energy. Although we are tremendously proud of what we’ve achieved these past two years, and can’t wait to share what we have in store for 2022, we also wanted to commit to doing more in the meantime, which is why we’re celebrating National Recycling Day (November 15) by announcing our BIG shift to environmentally-conscious and eco-friendly apparel!

Although rarely at the forefront of discussions about climate impact, the clothing industry collects a steep toll on the environment. Recent research indicates that it takes [10,000 liters of water to create a single kilogram of cotton](https://www.commonobjective.co/article/the-issues-water). In everyday terms,[ a cotton t-shirt that’s in your closet or drawer likely required around 3,000 liters of water to produce](https://psci.princeton.edu/tips/2020/7/20/the-impact-of-fast-fashion-on-the-environment). The fashion industry also produces greenhouse gases, with recent estimated emissions ranging from [2 to 8 percent of the global total](https://unece.org/forestry/press/un-alliance-aims-put-fashion-path-sustainability). Change can be a challenge, but it has to start somewhere.

Beginning today, all future FlyQuest merchandise will be made from 25% or more recycled and/or sustainable materials.In addition to making these changes, we are also launching our new website ([www.flyquest.gg](http://www.flyquest.gg)) and releasing the exclusive **[Midori Hoodie](https://flyquest.whatsneu.gg/)**, made of 60% recycled cotton and 40% post-consumer polyester, making it **100% recycled**! Although our LCS season came to a disappointing end, our Academy team is still going strong! They finished 1st place in the regular season, and will be heading into playoffs starting this week. Developing North American talent has always been very important to us, and we hope to prove that FlyQuest is the best in doing so.

With that, we are excited to share with you our final quest of the year - SunsetQuest.

SunsetQuest will build on what we accomplished with SunnyQuest, but DOUBLED! That means $2 per kill, $20 per Ocean Drake, and $200 per #FLYWIN. So far, we have accumulated a total contribution of $7,268 for the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).

But that's not all - if we win Academy Playoffs, we're adding in another $2,500. And if we win Proving Grounds, we're contributing an additional $2,500. That means if all goes well, this could be our most successful Quest to date!

Since we launched our Go Green initiative in January 2020, we’ve broken new ground in esports by integrating environmental cause-related initiatives into our League of Legends competitions, applying real action to help our planet in its time of need. We’ve planted 10,000 trees with One Tree Planted, protected coral reefs with the Coral Reef Alliance, and saved the bees with The Bee Conservancy.

We are now excited to announce our newest iteration for the upcoming Summer Split: SunnyQuest!

This season, we’re focusing our attention and contributions on climate change, an incredibly dangerous threat to our planet. SunnyQuest will support [the American Solar Energy Society](https://ases.org/), an organization that focuses on accelerating the shift to renewable energy to decrease carbon emissions across the US. Like previous quests, our contributions toward the ASES will be based on the in-game performances of our LCS and Academy teams 

SunnyQuest merch will be eco-friendly too —  the entire collection is made of at least 25% recycled materials! Today, we've got big news to share with all of you. We’re super excited to unveil the new FlyQuest logo and a fresh new visual look for our brand.

FlyQuest has come a long way since it was founded in 2017 — and it was about time that our brand caught up. We think the people and passions that make up FlyQuest are unique, but we haven’t always been confident and ready to express publicly what separates us from the pack.

With the launch of our Go Green initiative last year, we began the hard work of defining ourselves on our own terms. We started with our vision: to Showcase Greatness, our company-wide philosophy that is the root of everything we do. We put in a lot of effort raising awareness and stirring real action for the environment with TreeQuest, SeaQuest, WorldQuest, and BeeQuest. 

But even as we committed ourselves to supporting nature, our visual aesthetic lagged behind. Now, ahead of the LCS Summer Split, it’s time to change things up, complete the rebrand we started in 2020, and reinforce our direction for the future.

A lot of thought and care went into the new design by artist [Clara Nguyen](http://www.claranguyen.net), who says: "The typeface League Spartan is customized with rounded edges to reflect a sense of boldness, adventure, and welcomeness. The leaf drawn within the negative space of the 'Q' in Quest paired with an emerald green symbolizes the organization's many environmental campaigns."

Our primary team colors are now white and emerald green — we changed the shade of green to be more vibrant and inviting, while keeping ties to our Midwestern roots.

The New FlyQuest!

Hi guys, 

Like many of you this past year, we’ve struggled with maintaining strong mental health. It’s hard to Showcase Greatness when your perspective is skewed by negativity and fear. So as our lives slowly regain a semblance of normalcy, we want to send out positive vibes and arm everyone with the tools they need to improve their mental wellness. We’ve gotten the ball rolling with CEO Tricia Sugita’s “[Just Happy](https://twitter.com/FlyQuest/status/1374104532033110024)” video series, but it’s time to do even more.

In that spirit, we’re excited to kickoff our first ever sidequest: **MeQuest!** Starting today, FlyQuest and **Voyboy** are putting together a weekly action plan that focuses on recuperation, rebuilding healthy habits and rededicating ourselves to the positive mental health we all need to thrive in our daily lives. Unlike our previous quests — which were based on our LCS and Academy performance — we’ve designed MeQuest so that everyone can participate! 

**TL;DR:** MeQuest is a set of tasks we can all do to help improve our mental health. We’ve organized these tasks into seven distinct categories — Comfort, Gratitude, Hobby, Mental, Organization, People and Physical. Every Friday, all MeQuest participants will commit to one task each within three of the seven categories for the following week. 

We’re so happy to have **Voyboy** lead our MeQuest efforts. Voyboy has been a tireless advocate for mental health awareness, and he was a major voice in bringing MeQuest to life. All FlyQuest players, coaches and staff will be completing their own MeQuests alongside VoyBoy, and we’ll regularly post updates all over social media using the hashtag #MeQuest. 

Throughout MeQuest, fellow community questers can enter for a drawing to win a cool secret prize! To become eligible, post your MeQuest plan on the weekly Friday tweet from FlyQuest using the hashtag #MeQuest. Each Friday post (maximum seven) counts as one entry — one raffle ticket, you could say — into a prize drawing that will take place one week after MeQuest Phase 1 concludes on Friday, May 14th. Hi everyone,

Last year, FlyQuest embarked upon a series of quests as part of our #GoGreen initiative. We planted trees with TreeQuest, preserved coral reefs with SeaQuest, and helped plenty of wild turtles along the way. Now, we’re jumping from the seas to save the bees with our latest initiative **\#BeeQuest**. 

Bees play an essential role in the planet’s ecosystems. They pollinate a vast array of crops, directly fuel one-third of the world’s food production, and promote biodiversity through environmental protection wherever they buzz. But their population is in sharp decline, with 1 in 4 North American bee species at risk of extinction. The bees need our help!

So for Spring Split 2021, we’re going to Showcase Greatness with **BeeQuest** and challenge ourselves and our fans and friends to make a difference. Like previous quests, our wins on Summoner’s Rift will translate directly into donation dollars - this time to **The Bee Conservancy**, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting bees and their habitats. We’re super excited to support their efforts around hive-building, education, and the pursuit of environmental and social justice. For more information, you can visit them at thebeeconservancy.org.

During BeeQuest, we will make a donation to The Bee Conservancy for each FlyQuest win in LCS or Academy and for every FlyQuest kill during a match. That’s right: Today, we’re welcoming Joedat "Voyboy" Esfahani into the #FlyFam as a streamer under the FlyQuest banner! Together, we’ll showcase greatness this year through a variety of fun activities and a special summer quest. 

We’ve wanted to work with Voyboy for a long time. He’s a pillar of the streaming community and passionate about raising awareness around social issues (such as mental health). In Voyboy, we found a kindred spirit, someone who embodies the FlyQuest values of positivity, thoughtfulness, and generosity.

Hello everyone!

Today, we are very excited to share the second half of our Go Green initiative for 2020, **SeaQuest**!

Our Go Green Initiative was started as a means for all of us to Showcase the Greatness already within us together. As our CEO, Tricia Sugita, says, “We believe everyone has the ability to effect real change for our planet, and we want to facilitate ways for us to address important environmental issues together.”

Thanks to our players, some friends, and all of you, we were able to plant 10,000 trees during our Spring Split initiative, TreeQuest! For this Summer Split’s **SeaQuest**, we’re switching things up a bit. As the seasons change, so do we. From green to marine, from trees to the seas, and from floral to coral.

We will be helping to replenish the oceans’ dwindling coral reefs, by donating to the Coral Reef Alliance, one of the biggest coral reef foundations in the world. So much of our planet’s life depends on coral reefs, so we are making it our mission this split to help protect them. We will be donating for every FlyQuest LCS and Academy victory this Summer Split. We will also be donating each time a FlyQuest player gets a kill during a match, regardless of win/loss. Finally, we will be donating every time ANY team takes an Ocean Drake during an LCS or Academy match. Once again, the Ocean Drake affects the real world!

**SeaQuest** doesn’t just end there. The Coral Reef Alliance will deem those who have donated a total of $10,000 or more as “**Champions of the Reef**.” With this title, we will be able to actually go out and see some of these coral reefs, and show all of you the impact that we will be making together. The journey starts today so stay tuned!

Additionally, we will be focusing on another very important need: plastic reduction. Plastic waste in our oceans is a huge problem, and we want to help out not only through awareness, but to also go out there and actually Save the WildTurtles! We will be bringing some exciting campaigns around Saving the WildTurtles, including beach activations (if permitted), educational video content, and donation drives.

Everything we do at FlyQuest, we do with one goal in mind: to Showcase Greatness. This year, we are launching our new initiative: GO GREEN. It represents our commitment to life, growth, and the environment. We are taking steps not only to protect our planet, but also to allow ourselves to be inspired by its beauty and grace. With this in mind, our new design direction was born.

GO GREEN is personified in our aesthetic. Green is our primary color, and it permeates our designs focused around nature. Nature represents beauty, growth, and strength. It represents perseverance even in the harshest of conditions. It is a reminder that there is elegance in rising to a challenge. We hope to showcase nature’s greatness in our designs, and in our new jerseys. We chose the wood violet, the official state flower of Wisconsin, to accentuate our ties to the Midwest and the Milwaukee Bucks.

2020 is a big year for us. As we grow, we have surrounded ourselves with people who work hard, believe in themselves and, most importantly, really care. We will continue to showcase the greatness of green throughout the year, and we look forward to sharing many more exciting designs to come.

**We are introducing SUPER TREEQUEST for playoffs!**

**SUPER TREEQUEST will double the amount of trees we are planting during Playoff matches, and will include a commitment to plant an additional 10,000 trees should we win the 2020 LCS Spring Finals.**

**The trees planted for SUPER TREEQUEST will be based on a number of criteria during each of FlyQuest’s Playoff games. We will be planting 200 trees each time FlyQuest wins a game during the Playoffs, 2 trees each time a FlyQuest player gets a kill during a match, and 20 trees every time ANY team takes an Ocean Drake during an LCS Playoff match.**

So for every **\*FlyQuest LCS and Academy victory this Spring**, we will be planting 100 trees*! We call this “**TreeQuest**,” and you can expect to see a live “**TreeCounter**” on our website, soon. But TreeQuest doesn’t end there.* We will also be planting 1 tree each time a FlyQuest player gets a kill during a match*, regardless of win/loss. Finally,* we will also be planting 10 trees every time a team takes an Ocean Drake during an LCS or Academy match*. The Ocean Drake affects the real world!

You might have noticed we didn’t specify that last one having to be a FlyQuest match. That’s because we will be **planting 10 trees per Ocean Drake regardless of the teams playing**. We are all here to Showcase Greatness together, and we believe that this is a great way for us to show gratitude for the players working hard to make Summoner’s Rift a greener place.

At the end of each week of the Spring Split, we will be donating to the **OneTreePlanted Organization** (<https://onetreeplanted.org/>) according to the TreeCounter. However, we will be taking a more hands-on approach with planting trees on **Earth Day** (April 22, 2020), so stay tuned!

LOS ANGELES, January 22nd  - In a move signaling its dedication to showcasing greatness, FlyQuest announced today that Tricia Sugita has been appointed as CEO. Sugita is an industry veteran who has influenced & transformed FlyQuest’s culture and direction since joining the organization in January 2018. 

“There is no one more qualified and deserving to lead FlyQuest than Tricia,” said Ryan Edens who will transition to FlyQuest’s President with the move. “Under Tricia’s leadership, FlyQuest has united under one vision. We founded FlyQuest in 2017 as a platform to showcase the greatness that already exists in everyone. Tricia has been the living embodiment of that vision.”

As CEO, Sugita will be responsible for bringing FlyQuest’s brand of Showcase Greatness to life; previously, she led FlyQuest initiatives in supporting women, students, and refugees.

“I am honored and grateful to be the CEO of this organization that I care deeply about,” said Sugita. “The heart of FlyQuest is ‘greatness,’ and it drives everything we do. We’ve done a great job bringing in the right people and creating a culture that celebrates greatness. Notably, we will be raising money to plant trees and planting a lot ourselves, as well, and enacting our mission to “Save the Wild Turtles.”

**PLANTING ROOTS IN A NEW FACILITY, THE GREENHOUSE**

“We’re excited to announce our new facility, aptly named ‘The Greenhouse,’” said Sugita. “The Greenhouse will change the way we play, practice, and grow as an organization. FlyQuest is committed to equipping our team with the resources they need to Showcase Greatness in competition and in life.”

With over 7,000 square feet of dedicated space, The Greenhouse includes everything from practice rooms for both LCS and Academy teams, coaching/review rooms, and content studios, to open workspaces, conference rooms, rec rooms, and more. The literal green-colored Greenhouse represents FlyQuest’s commitment to showcasing the greatness of green.

The Greenhouse also allows for daily interaction between the players and the business staff. “Players feel more involved with what we're trying to create together, as they can really see how much we care about what we do” said Sugita. “It’s early, but we are already seeing the positive effects on not just the players, but the business staff, too, of truly being united under one vision, one goal. They want to be here, they want to work hard, and they want to win.”
